Kevin Nicastro, LMSW

Psychotherapist

Kevin Nicastro earned his Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work and graduated as a SUDIF Fellow, receiving specialized training in the treatment of substance use disorders.

His style is collaborative, grounded, empathetic, and direct, while recognizing that meaningful change takes patience and compassion. His goal is to create a space where clients feel respected, understood, and supported as they work toward lasting change. Kevin works with both adult individuals and couples and has completed Level 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

Parents of children or young adults with social and emotional challenges. Parenting a child with social or emotional difficulties can feel isolating and overwhelming. Kevin works alongside parents to better understand their child’s needs, reduce family stress, and resolve gridlocked parent/child interactions — combining empathy for the child’s experience with confidence, healthy limits, and clear expectations.

Couples therapy / relationship therapy for individuals. Relationships can be one of the greatest sources of meaning in our lives, yet they can also become places where we feel stuck, misunderstood, or disconnected. Kevin works with couples to rebuild trust and commitment, strengthen friendship and mutual admiration, rekindle romance, manage conflict productively, and create shared meaning, drawing heavily on the Gottman Method’s decades of research into what makes couples thrive.

Substance use disorders. Kevin supports individuals who are questioning their relationship with substances, actively working toward recovery, or rebuilding after setbacks. His approach balances accountability with empathy, focusing on understanding patterns, strengthening motivation, healing from past trauma, and developing realistic strategies for long-term change.

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, and Friday in Bethesda, MD.
